Museum of London Docklands calls for iconic Jewish fashion pieces
The Museum of London Docklands is soliciting iconic Jewish-designed fashion items for its exhibition Fashion City: How Jewish Londoners Shaped Global Style (Oct 13, 2023–Apr 14, 2024). Curators are particularly eager to locate menswear by Mr Fish—worn by icons like David Bowie (notably the Man Who Sold the World album dress), Sean Connery, Mick Jagger, Muhammad Ali, Michael Caine—as well as pieces by Cecil Gee (worn by The Beatles), 1930s–40s Rahvis creations, and hats by Otto Lucas worn by Greta Garbo or Wallis Simpson. The exhibition aims to highlight the significant yet under-recognized contributions of Jewish designers from East End tailors to high-street retail founders.
