Leo Baeck Institute: 70 years honoring German‑Jewish culture

Founded in 1955, the Leo Baeck Institute (LBI) preserves the heritage of German-speaking Jewry. Its founders included survivors and intellectuals like Leo Baeck and Hannah Arendt. With branches in New York, London, and Jerusalem, LBI archives personal papers, literature, music, and more.

Over 3.5 million pages have been digitized, enabling global access to Jewish history. The institute doesn't just honor elite figures but everyday life, preserving memories nearly erased by the Holocaust. It also hosts exhibitions and programs connecting this heritage with modern issues like migration and identity.
