U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff expressed optimism about reaching a temporary ceasefire and hostage deal between Israel and Hamas. The proposed 60-day truce includes the release of hostages and Palestinian prisoners.

While Israel has agreed to the framework, Hamas has suggested amendments, seeking a permanent ceasefire and Israeli military withdrawal from Gaza.

Witkoff labeled Hamas's response as "totally unacceptable," emphasizing the need for progress toward lasting peace.
