A gala for Jewish Queer Youth celebrates untold, queer Jewish stories

At the 2025 JQY Gala in Lincoln Center, Tony-winning producer Rachel Sussman received the inaugural Queer Jewish Icon award. JQY supports LGBTQ+ youth from Orthodox and Conservative backgrounds.

The event featured Broadway performances and highlighted the importance of queer Jewish narratives. Sussman's work, including "Suffs," inspired discussions on representation. Executive Director Rachael Fried emphasized the need to recognize LGBTQ+ Jews' contributions to history.

The gala combined celebration with advocacy, showcasing the intersection of queer and Jewish identities.
