BBC boss offers to meet with Jewish staff over Bob Vylan performance

BBC Director‑General Tim Davie has expressed being “appalled” by chants of “Death, death to the IDF” during Bob Vylan’s Glastonbury set, and has offered to meet Jewish BBC employees to listen to their concerns.

He acknowledged the distress caused, stating “there is absolutely no place for antisemitism at the BBC.” Although a viewer warning was shown, Davie regretted not cutting the livestream sooner. It remained available due to technical issues.

The incident has triggered government and staff scrutiny—Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy questioned leadership oversight, while more than 400 BBC staff signed an open letter accusing the corporation of bias in its Middle East coverage. Police are investigating similar chants made at a prior concert. The BBC promised swift action to prevent recurrence.
